The word mangala means auspicious and this title reflects the fact that hearing Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya’s divine pastimes is the most auspicious activity for all the living beings. Sri Locana Das wrote this Biographical work on Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu on the order of his spiritual master, Sri Narahari Sarakar. Caitanya Mangala is written in simple, beautiful language, and it can be sung in various beautiful ragas. "Caitanya-Mangala is a rasatmaka-sastra [book full of rasa] which reveals the sweet pastimes of Lord Sri Chaitanya establishing that He is the incarnation of Krishna as predicted in the revealed scriptures.
